Gempa Bumi di Minangkabau - Pt VII - Sumbangan Bakti Dari AirAsia

AirAsia charity flight tickets snapped up

PETALING JAYA: Anxious family members and rescue teams have snapped up all AirAsia’s free tickets for the Jakarta-Padang charity flight for today.

The 260 tickets were booked within 20 minutes after AirAsia put up the offer on its website at 9am on Friday, said AirAsia group regional head of commercial Kathleen Tan.

“AirAsia wants to do its bit during this critical moment in Padang. We want to reach out to the earthquake victims,” she said.

She said some travel agents had doubled the air fare for travel between the two cities.
“We are not doing it for money. We are the people’s airline. It is our social responsibility,” she said.

Tan added that AirAsia, which had discontinued flights between the two cities previously, managed to organise the charity fight within an hour on Wednesday.

“We also provide cargo services to those who want to send relief supply to Padang,” said Tan, adding that AirAsia also planned to have extra flights between the two cities during this period.
